A family source, who pleaded anonymity, described the victim as quiet and respectful.

“My brother was a gentle and respectful young man and did not have any misunderstanding with anybody.”

The source said the police had always been helpless in the many cases of murder in Mushin.

“We are leaving it to God,” she added.

A resident, Thompson Babajide, said the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Umar Manko, had organised a peace meeting in the area on Wednesday, a day before Olukoga was murdered.

“But despite that, Oyinbo, who is also known as Dagger, still killed Segun Olukoga. This Oyinbo has been linked with the killing of about 10 people and I know seven of those people personally.

“The police know the place where he is hiding presently, but they may not do anything because he is a political thug.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, said she would call the area commander of Mushin and get back to our correspondent. However, she had yet to fulfill her promise as of the time of going to the press at 10pm.
