Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has commended security agencies in the state for their support and cooperation with his administration towards the successful implementation of his various programmes.
He gave the commendation while receiving the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Samuel Alade and the Commanding Officer, Air Force Detachment, Ibadan, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya who paid him a courtesy call in his office in Ibadan on Wednesday.
“We have worked closely with security agencies and I believe we will continue to build on the block of friendship and mutual understanding that had already existed between us,’’ he said.
Governor Ajimobi, who attributed the achievements of his administration and the relative peace currently being enjoyed in the state to the efforts of security agencies, pledged that his administration would continue to collaborate with them to ensure further development in the state.
He said that the various regeneration programmes of his government had been very successful and had consequently attracted a large number of investors into the state.
“The various programmes were an attempt to make the state investor-friendly and to make it compare favourably with other states in Nigeria and in West Africa. We are already concluding our restoration agenda and now at the level of transformation and repositioning. We are doing all these to attract investors and all activities that will develop the state.
“We have continued to lay emphasis not only on urban renewal but also urban regeneration. We are doing what is called network development that will allow us compare favourably to other states,’’ he said.
According to the governor, the state is very unique with latest potentials, stressing that his administration will unleash the potentials for the rapid development of the state.
Earlier, Admiral Alade and Commodore Adesanya had pledged their continued support to the state, especially in the provision of security, with a view to ensuring peace and tranquility.
“We hope to nurture and sustain the existing cordial relationship between the state and the security agencies. We will continue to do our very best to ensure that security and peace reign in the state throughout your tenure and beyond,’’ Adesanya said.
