Stop Reckless spending,National Chairman of Labour warns Fayemi

The Labour Party in Ekiti State, yesterday advised the ruling All Progressive Congress against wasting the State’s resources on frivolities , alleging that Governor Kayode Fayemi has been employing divisive methods to rip the state apart in efforts to perpetuate himself in office.

The National Chairman of the party, Barr. Dan Inwanyanwu , who made the allegation during official inauguration of the Interim State Working Committee of the party in Ado Ekiti, alleged that Fayemi was responsible for the pasting of the posters of Hon Opeyemi Bamidele, with the logo of the Social Democratic Party (SDP)

Commenting on the Bamidele’s posters that flooded strategic locations in Ado Ekiti and its environs with the inscription, ‘We have finally traced our route”, Iwuanyanwu, who was represented by his Deputy, Joseph Akinlaja, said the action was targeted at causing confusion within the LP and create the impression that the party is flouting the Electoral Act.

It would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ekiti, Alhaji Halilu Pai had last week issued a stern warning that pasting of posters when the commission had not granted such permission was tantamount to a breach of the electoral act and that such would not be tolerated.

Members of the interim state working committee inaugurated by Nwanyanwu included the Chairman, Hon. Akin Omole, Deputy Chairman, Mr Bayo Ayeni, Secretary, Barr. Abiola Olowokere, Treasurer, Mr Banji Gbenga, Financial Secretary, Mr Olu Olofin, Organizing Secretary, Com. Gbenga Daramola, Legal Adviser, Barr. Olalekan Olatawura, Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Bolanle Olatunde-Bruce, Women Leader, Mrs. Dupe Otun among others.

The LP boss said, “the posters they are pasting was to create the impression that Hon Opeyemi Bamidele has defected to the SDP. This was meant to cause confusion on the day of election but Ekiti people are too discerning to fall for this cheap antic. This is to tell you that they are jittery knowing fully well that their time was up.

“The APC should desist from playing pranks. They should be civilized enough to play politics without bitterness and rancour but the price we have to pay on our own part is to be vigilant because it is the price of freedom.

“Our party is built on peace. We are not going to be violent; it will be apt for them to know that violence is not an exclusive right of any party, but it is not good to start violence at all. We are going to embark on issue-based campaign because if you kill to be in any position, the blood of the innocent will cry against you”.

The Ekiti State Interim Chairman of the Party urged members of the SWC to work assiduously to mobilize members for the party across all wards and units to facilitate the party’s victory in the coming election.
