Dr. Kayode Fayemi And His Cloning Of Ayodele Fayose In Ekiti State By Otunba Wale Adeleye

By Otunba Wale Adeleye
From my Holiday, I am writing this piece with my leg crouched on the seat.
In biology, cloning is the process of producing similar populations of genetically identical individuals that occurs in nature when organisms such as bacteria, insects or plants reproduce asexually.
Cloning in biotechnology refers to processes used to create copies of DNA fragments (molecular cloning), cells (cell cloning), or organisms. The term also refers to the production of multiple copies of a product such as digital media or software. The term clone is derived from the Ancient Greek word κλών (klōn, “twig”), referring to the process whereby a new plant can be created from a twig. (Wilkipedia.org)
Complete cloning of Dr. Ayodele Fayose and his regime is currently happening in Ekisti state with Dr. Fayemi and his cohorts.
The need to critically look at the political landscape in Ekiti cannot be over-emphasized. Ekiti state is known to be the state of elites, it is often said that in every household in Ekiti, there must be one professor. If this is true , I think the state should actually be a pace setter in terms of moral for other states to replicate.
Let us assess Ekiti state form the days of Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo who happens to be the first Executive Governor of the state, this man was said to have been humble, tolerant and respectful, thank God I was given the opportunity to work with him briefly. Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo was ousted by Ayodele Fayose through a keenly contested election. Fayose was able to achieve this feat, only because Otunba Adebayo was a well trained child from a responsible home hence his tolerant disposition to oppositions. No wonder the Ekiti people usually says ‘Aaarin Obi latin n yan ifin’. Meaning from the abundance of kola nuts comes the unblemished one.
Lets come to the regime of our responsible former governor, engineer Segun Oni, this governor allowed and tolerate opposition in the state and gave them freedom to carry on their campaign activities without obstruction, hence the emergence of Dr.Kayode Fayemi, though, he won through the judicial pronouncement.
Let’s look critically about what tolerance means both on a normal definition and political connotation
TOLERANCE
This could be seen as a fair , objective and permissive attitude towards those whose opinions, practices, race, religion, nationality, etc., differ from one’s own; freedom from bigotry.
POLITICAL TOLERANCE
Political tolerance means accepting and respecting the basic rights and civil liberties of persons and groups whose viewpoints differ from one’s own. All citizens, including political leaders, have a responsibility to practice political tolerance in their words and actions.
“Success is not measured by what you accomplish, but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have manage and maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds.” – Orison Swett Marden
What happened in Ekiti state on the 19th of September, 2013 during the declaration of MICHEAL OPEYEMI BAMIDELE (MOB) for Governorship of the state is a complete show of shame on the part of the state Government. It described a government that was totally against opposition, a government who actually may have been deceiving the entire people of Ekiti State Why? . If the State Government has done well as widely claimed, then the state should not be afraid of opposition. There have been a lot of write ups on the state activities by my friend and someone I have patiently dissected all his posts on social media, Mr. Lere Olayinka. He has been criticizing the state government and some of us thought the man was just seeking cheap popularity, with what happened today, much credence has been laid to some of his posts. To Mr. Lere, please ride on.
‘Bibire Ko se fowora’ this is another popular saying in Yoruba which means, Better upbringing cannot be bought with money, when you see a state government that derives joy in shooting and maltreating his people all in the name of politics, then the integrity of such government is at stake. I have always been one of the JKF admirers, in fact I personally opened an FB page to advance his second term ambition. But today like I said, Bibire ko se fowora, with what JKF has allowed to happen in Ekiti today, even if JKF wins Ekiti state Governorship in millions of times, I will never be associated with such again. Integrity matters a lot in whatever you do, and for me to maintain my integrity, I dissociate myself from such act of impunity, and I think all Ekiti elites home and abroad should do such because, I have totally looked at what MOB is trying to achieve and found completely nothing wrong with it because the world is a free one.
Has the JKF group forgotten that “Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a state where everyone lives in fear.” I must say without fear or favor that today, JKF has lost thousands of admirers and followers, most especially, those that were following him due to integrity reason and has one way or the other turned MOB to an hero. Once you are vilifying someone unnecessarily, then you create peoples sympathy for such person and also galvanise support for him.
I want to use this medium to call on all sons and daughters of Ekiti State both home and abroad, the elders to please do something to avert Ekiti the state from being turned to another Syria.
To JKF, remember, if no one is against your idea, then your idea probably doesn’t do anything. If you are satisfied with what you have done for Ekiti, then allow opposition to thrive that is the sweetness of democracy.
TO MICHEAL OPEYEMI BAMIDELE (MOB)
Remember, always give your best. Never get discouraged. Never be petty. Always remember, others may hate you. But those who hate you don’t win unless you hate them. And then you destroy yourself. The experienced mountain climber is not intimidated by a mountain – he is inspired by it. The persistent winner is not discouraged by a problem – he is challenged by it. Mountains are created to be conquered; adversities are designed to be defeated; problems are sent to be solved. It is better to master one mountain than a thousand foothills.”
“Continuous, unflagging effort, persistence and determination will win. Let not the man be discouraged who has these.” History has demonstrated that the most notable winners usually encountered heartbreaking obstacles before they triumphed. They won because they refused to become discouraged by their defeats.” continue, who knows, you may be the biblical Joseph, who triumphed against all odds
