Mohammed Fawehinmi Apologises to Lagos Commissioner Kayode Opeifa

He was an advocate of the people who adopted the non- violent stance of attack on various governments, but used the instrumentality of the law to make his point.

I was reliably informed of the violent attack meted out to Comrade Kayode Opeifa the incumbent Commissioner for Transport of Lagos State who was a close associate of late Chief GaniFawehinmi SAM, SAN, Late Dr. BekoRansome Kuti, and Late Mr. ChimaUbani. It is disgusting to know that the incident was recorded and posted on Youtube.

On behalf of the GaniFawehinmi Family, I tender an unreserved apology to Mr. Kayode Opeifa who was violently attacked with sachets of pure water. This act was crude and uncouth, and the perpetrators of this act acted on their own volition and without the knowledge of the GaniFawehinmi family.

September 5 will always serve as a memorable day in remembrance of late Chief GaniFawehinmi and in as much as we strive to correct the mistakes of government whether at state or federal level, VIOLENCE WILL NOT SERVE AS ONE OF THE OPTIONS THAT WOULD BE ADOPTED.

I commend Mr. Kayode Opeifa’s sense of maturity and discipline for leaving the premises of Jabita Hotel in order not to escalate the mishap that occurred.

We the members of the GaniFawehinmi Family condemn this act in the strictest terms and would ensure in future that such a disgraceful incident never occurs.

Signed
MOHAMMED FAWEHINMI ESQ
