Daily Trust Md Dies in front of 1st Bank

The Managing Editor of Media Trust Ltd Malam Suleiman Ibn Mohammed died yesterday age 50 years.
Malam Suleiman slumped shortly after alighting from his car in Area 3, where he had gone to transact business at a bank.
He had parked close to the bank and was speaking with a ticketing staff of Park N Pay when he slumped and was rushed to the nearby Bepos Clinic.
He was pronounced dead minutes later at about 10 am, and the hospital officials called the office to break the news of his demise.
Colleagues who saw him drive out from the office on his way to the bank in the morning said he showed no sign of ill health and was in good spirit.
Both management and staff of the company described his death as shocking and devastating.
He was described by colleagues in a condolence register opened yesterday in his honour at the premises of Media Trust Limited as “perfect gentleman” and someone with a listening ear.
  “…You were a good man,”  Mahmud Jega, Daily Trust Deputy Editor-In-Chief wrote in the register.
A letter of condolence signed by the Secretary, MTL’s Cooperative Society Fidelis Mac Leva said, “His fond memories as a humane gentleman who cared for the welfare of staff would ever be remembered. While conveying our deepest condolences to the immediate family for this painful loss, we pray almighty Allah to grant his gentle soul eternal rest.”
Suleiman was born on 25 April 1963 in Loko, Nasarawa local government area of Nasarawa State. He joined Media Trust Limited (publishers of Daily Trust, Weekly Trust, Sunday Trust and Aminiya) at the age of 35 in July 15, 1998.
He was appointed acting managing editor on April  25, 2008 and confirmed in that position later.
Suleiman had worked with the Democrat Newspaper in various capacities from 1989 to 1997. At the Democrat, where he made his mark as a journalist, he worked variously on politics desk; State House correspondent, Deputy Bureau Chief, Abuja. He was awriter and columnist.
 He also worked with the Abuja Mirror Newspaper from March to August 1998 as a senior reporter.
Suleiman was a former Vice Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ), Abuja from 1995 to 1999 and member, FCT Committee on examination ethics from 1997 to 1998.
He was buried yesterday in Keffi, Nasarawa State according to Islamic rites. He was survived by a wife, many children and dependants.
Among those who attended the funeral prayers were Malam Kabiru Yusuf, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Media Trust Limited; Isiaq Ajibola, Managing Director/Chief Operating Officer; Mannir Dan Ali, Executive Director/Editor-In-Chief; Mahmud Jega, Deputy Editor-In-Chief and Aliu Akoshile, General Manager Business Development.
