The PDP Youth Circuit has inaugurated a new national executive council
after a thorough process of elections by her members. The new NEC
which was sworn in on Sunday the 3rd of June, 2013 has been charged
with the responsibility of overseeing the affairs of the People’s
Democratic Party’s youth wing. In line with the PDP’s agenda of women
participation, Salamatu Ladan emerged the new national coordinator
replacing Barrister Umar Magaji who now heads the PDPYC caucus
committee on strategy and planning.
Jude Kingsley Onyeka is the new Deputy National Coordinator while
Ojugo Onyeluka retains his position as National Secretary. The 17 man
NEC has immediately resumed work in the PDPYC secretariat in Abuja and
activities have taken a high momentum. According to Ladan, ‘we are now
more motivated than ever to ensure our great party the PDP delivers
good governance to all and that every Nigerian citizen gets the best
deal out of the current political dispensation and beyond.’
The National Secretary also stated that a programme of activities had
been penciled down by the youth wing of the PDP and that these
projects would be rolled out one after the other in the coming weeks
and months. While speaking to journalists after the inauguration,
Salamatu Ladan mentioned that the youth wing was getting the full
cooperation of the mother party as promised. ‘They have been very
supportive in terms of resources and in advisory capacity. We believe
in the on-going reforms of the PDP and we are fully in alignment with
it.’
The PDPYC which was launched in 2012 now has membership and structures
in all 36 states of the federation and the FCT, Abuja. The
organization has managed against all odds to spread her tentacles to
all political units of each region of the country while recruiting
millions of members. Preliminary figures show that the PDP Youth
