Cultural ambassador to the Alaafin of Oyo, Dr Paula Gomes, has
declared that the World Sango Festival (WSF) will be the best thing to
happen to Yoruba culture.
In a chat with media men in Oyo this week, the Alaafin, Oba Adeyemi
III, was said to have gone far with the planning of the WSF which will
also involve all other Isese people, i.e Obatala, Oya, Osun, Ifa and
Ogun.

“The festival is a generic festival of the Yoruba people across the
South West, including Benin and Kwara states. Don’t forget that the
Igbominas in Kwara are sons and daughters of Orangun Aga, who is the
fourth child of Oduduwa”, added Gomes.

The Event and Media Consultants for the festival, Logica Media Group’s
Chief Biodun Ajiboye, informed that all crannies of Yoruba land had
been combed, and information about the festival had reached many on
the need to see WSF as a Yoruba festival.

He added that the Alaafin had contacted King Sunny Ade (KSA) and Wasiu
Ayinde Marshal (K1) to coordinate  the 100 artistes that will perform
at the August festival.
“The plan will, indeed, position Nigeria positively among the commity
of nations. The Yoruba in Brazil, Cuba and the United States, are
excited to come to Nigeria, to Oyo, their ancestral home. It is a
great leap in our cultural advancement”, added Gomes.
