Special Assistant, Special Duties to the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. A. Y Ahmad has denied reports that his principal, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur has resigned from office.
The PDP boss has been embroiled in a war of attrition with some governors who have been insisting on his resignation since last year.
Tukur has also not enjoyed a good working relationship with other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
The Sule Lamido-led Committee on the crisis in Adamawa PDP further stoked the embers of hatred against Tukur.
The rumour of his resignation yesterday at the party’s national secretariat spread very fast and staffs were seen talking in low tones.
“The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur has not resigned, contrary to a rumour welling up to that effect,” said a statement by Ahmad.
He said Tukur was on a national assignment to Canada on the invitation of the Nigerian Ambassador to Canada, Dr Ojo Maduekwe and would return to Nigeria as soon as he concluded his assignmen
