LABOUR Party (LP) governorship candidate in the October 20 election in Ondo State, Governor Olusegun Mimiko, yesterday, took his Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challengers, Mr. Olurotimi Akeredolu (SAN) and Chief Olusola Oke respectively to the cleaners.
He said the duo were not prepared to govern the Sunshine State.
Mimiko said Oke had wanted to be Minister but when that failed, he decided to be the Secretary of the party and when that finally failed, he decided to contest the governorship position.
The governor, however, said stakeholders have told Oke in his party that governorship position is a serious business and that what it entails is not just having siren and riding in a convoy of cars.
His words: “Being a governor is not sleeping at night and dreaming of riding in a convoy with siren. Governorship is a serious business; you must have prepared yourself for it. I stand before you to say I am prepared to be your governor again. And that is why we have been able to deliver what we are able to deliver.
On Akeredolu’s ambition, Mimiko said the ACN candidate did not consider it fit and proper for him to register in the state over a year ago and now he wants to be governor.
“One of them, up to one year ago did not deem it fit to register in our state. I doubt if he had ever voted in our state. You cannot wake up overnight and say you want to be governor, not in Ondo State. You must be prepared for the job. I want to tell you that I am prepared to be your governor.”
Mimiko said nobody can capture the state and rigging would not be allowed in the election,At the Rally a woman went into Labour and had a baby boy.
