News going around is that once popular singer Zaaki Azzay, who hales from the North and is known for his torchlight has now joined the list of women batterer’s in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
According to a report filed by Project Alert, an NGO that champions the course of women faced with this kind of challenge, Hadiza was allegedly battered by her husband, Zaaki. Hadiza, as the report puts, ran out of her matrimonial home and sought the help of the NGO.
Project Alert housed Hadiza, but Zaaki reportedly trailed his wife there through the Police and MTN tracker, and has continued to harass her.
The woman with her two kids, we gathered, left the house when Zaaki allegedly turned Hadiza into a punching bag that he often trains with every day and night. The reason, as we were told, was because Zaaki accused her of being the brain behind his dwindling career.
The NGO, a Dorcas Generation Initiative, led by a woman of essence called Amara Blessing, is saddled with the responsibility of helping women like Hadiza, and is making effort to raise money to rent a place for her to stay with her kids.
It is reported that all efforts to reach Zaaki for his side of the story has proved abortive.
A source close to Zaaki has however confirmed the story, but claimed he didn’t turn his wife into a punching bag. Hadiza is reported to have moved out of Zaaki’s house about four months ago.
Hadiza has hinted that she will issue an official press statement telling her side of the story in the coming days as soon as she sorts out the issue with the police who arrested her for allegedly taking hostage her own children.
