A N100m fraud has allegedly been uncovered at the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service.
A Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ibikunle Amosun on Taxation (name withheld) has allegedly been quizzed over the fraud and redeployed. He was said to have been replaced by a woman who resumed on Friday.
Ten other top officials of the IRS also said to be involved in the fraud were said to have made statements at the police headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

Our correspondent learnt that the on over the fraud was blown off last week when the authorities embarked on financial audit and headcount of various companies and firms in the state.
The affected officials were said to have attempted to extort about N10m from some expatriates to undervalue their company’s tax returns. But unknown to the officials, the expatriates recorded all the negotiation via closed circuit television.
The CCTV footage was said to have been handed over to state government officials by the expatriates, leading to the arrest of the governor’s aide and the other IRS officials. They were said to have been released on bail later.
A source at the agency alleged that some IRS officials had been collecting bribes from some companies in the state to under-value their taxes.
The source said, “One of the directors has been asked to resign; others have been placed on indefinite suspension.”
Amosun was reportedly prevailed upon to spare the aide from sacking.
Due to numerous appeals to the governor by some people, the SSA was removed from the agency and transferred to an unknown ministry,” an official of the agency, who pleaded anonymity, said
