A mobile policeman, who was dismissed two years ago for participating in illegal duty, has been arrested for illegally escorting a vehicle from Lagos to Ibadan, dressed fully in police uniform.
The unrepentant impostor, identified as David Ashu, who is in his early 50s, had been disguising as a mobile policeman, until his true identity was uncovered by the anti–crime patrol team in Egbeda Division of the Oyo State Police Command.
The police team, led by Sylvester Imokhuede (Assistant Superintendent of Police), found out that the impersonator claimed to be serving in MOPOL 2, Lagos as a Sergeant.
According to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Clement Adoda, “Ashu was accosted along Ife/ Ibadan Expressway while escorting a Dyna Truck with Reg. No. XZ 239 FST. “On interrogation, he was discovered to be a fake policeman. On- the- spot search on him led to recovery of a fake police warrant card with Force NO. 199663”.
