We had earlier informed you that unconfirmed sources reported that a bomb went off around 2pm today 15th July 2012, in the Obehira area of Okene, a town about an hour drive from Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
Naija Hottestgist can now tell you that it has being officially confirmed.
The bomb is said to have been concealed in a parked black Rover car with registration number LKJ 919 AA. Eye-witnesses say that the vehicle which was parked at the gas station exploded- apparently timed to cause significant fire from underground gasoline tanks underneath the area.
Although the police has not issued any public statement, a source said two people, believed to be non-natives have been arrested.
The National Emergency Management Agency has also confirmed the explosion. NEMA’s spokesperson, Yushau Shuaibu, said in a statement that no live was lost. He however did not state whether or not there were casualties.
The Terrorist group Boko-Haram is top suspect for this explosion.
