Nysc Member Delivers Baby in Camp

The NYSC Coordinator in Katsina State, Ebenezer Afolalu, said on  Wednesday that a female corps member delivered a baby girl at  the orientation camp in Katsina.

Mr. Afolalu said this in Katsina, during the opening ceremony of the  2012 orientation course for batch B NYSC members deployed to the state.
The  coordinator, who refused to disclose the name and state of the corps  member, said that the lady delivered on the first day of registration,  at the camp clinic.

He added that both the mother and baby are in good health. Mr.  Afolalu said that a total of 2,144 NYSC members were deployed to the  state.

The coordinator also said that a comprehensive skill acquisition  programme had been designed to prepare the corps members to become  self-reliant after the service year.
In his remarks, the State  governor, Ibrahim Shema, represented by the Youth and Sports  commissioner, Mannir Ibrahim,  said the state government would engage  the corps members in agricultural establishments to enhance its  agricultural revolution programme tagged “Katsina-Songhai initiative.”
Mr.  Shema said that the project is aimed at reducing poverty, empowering  youth, and ensuring food security in the state and nation.
According  to him, engaging the corps members in the programme is also aimed at  harnessing the agricultural potentials of the state.

He assured the corps members of their safety and urged them to feel free “because Katsina people are kind and hospitable”.
