A six month old baby, a seventy year old grandmother and a twelve year old boy as well as a man and his two wives are among members of the Dakinban family that were murdered in cold blood early Friday morning in Tibiu village of Kumbun ward in Mangu local government area of Plateau state.
One of the villagers explained that the incident occurred at about 3:30 am on Friday 22nd of June as suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded the village with sporadic gunshots which led to pandemonium and in the process killing six members of the family while four escaped with injuries.
The villager, who lamented to the Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly, John Clark Dabwan said the entire village now lives in fear of possible attacks.
Mr Clark while commiserating with the community described the incident as “a set back to the peace process in the state” describing the action as a disaster to the community as well as barbaric and ungodly as those killed were murdered in cold blood without the community at war with anybody.
He appealed to members of the community not to take laws into their hands and avoid any reprisal attack on their neighbors.
