Governor Udom Emmanuel has reiterated his administration’s determination to provide functional infrastructure to all parts of the state to bolster industrial development & also improve better standards of living among the people as well as attract investors to the state.
Hon Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyang made the disclosure today on a Planet Radio FM Interactive programme, Akwa Ibom Mandate in Uyo.
Mr Ephraim Inyang stated that the state government through the ministry of Works has awarded contract for the construction of 3.5km Ikot Udom road with a 15m span bridge in Ibiono Ibom L G A & the construction of the 5km Ikot Usop-Ikot Edeghe-Ikot ekpuk road with a 30m span bridge in Mkpat Enln LGA.
Other roads so far awarded include; the construction of Mkpok – Okat (5km) road; Emergency work in the completion of Oron road with water Channelization & repairs of damaged portion of the road around the area.
Others include the1km road in Awa Iman Area with water Channelization in Onna LGA & construction /remodelling of selected roads in Eket metropolis (Atabong-Liverpool road, Eket-Oron road plus Marina road axis all in Eket LGA.
Works Commissioner who described Governor Emmanuel as a faithful servant-leader said the Governor is genuinely passionate about the development of the state. Mr Inyang stressed that despite the paucity of funds, the government has listed other projects to be undertaken in the immediate future to include:
1. The Construction of Ikot-Ebekpo_ Ikot Ebidang Road in Onna Local Government.
2. The Dualization of Etinan-Onna Road with two bridges and Spur from Awa Iman to Nkana in Etinan Local Government Area. ( Awaiting Opening of bids).
3. Construction /Remodelling of selected Roads, Strategic Round abouts/ Junctions in Eket Metropolis, Akwa Ibom State with complete water Channelization in Eket Urban (phase II).
4. Construction/Dualization of Ikot Oku Ikono- Etinan Road (Awaiting final Design of Flyover at Ikot Oku Ikono).
The Honourable Commissioner for Works while answering questions from callers during programme assured that Akwa Ibom People that no section of the state will left out in the development plan of Governor Udom Emmanuel of the state. He assured that government is complimenting its wealth creation and industrialization agenda with continuous infrastructure development.
